MULP: Sceptre of the Sun! First Week News & Updates Re-cap!

Morning everyone!
If you've tuned into my Twitter, Tumblr or Facebook pages recently you'll have seen a bit of a hubbub surrounding the announcement of my new comic! It was previously mentioned (but not named) at the end of last year on the Forbidden Planet International Blog as part of Matt Gibbs' Best of the Year 2013 post.

Well mulpcomic.com has been live for a week today and it's steadily been updating with loads of goodies, here's a little sum up of what's on there so far...

Geek Pride made the press release for MULP: Sceptre of the Sun over on their blog!

As well as quoting Matt and I on our experiences creating this first issue they have also said:

"It seems like we have a new adventure to look forward too, this time set in a slightly different environment than that that we’re used to"

They will be posting a review of issue #1 soon!

Garen Ewing, creator of The Adventures of Julius Chancer, has given a very kinda mention to MULP: Sceptre of the Sun on his blog!

Garen's work has been a huge inspiration to both Matt and I, and I also owe him for his kind tips and pointers when researching 1930's - 40's adventuring attire! On our first issue he said:

"MULP: Sceptre of the Sun. This is an adventure comic crossing the territory of Indiana Jones, The Mummy, Sherlock Holmes, Allan Quatermain ... all that lovely stuff, but with an extra unique feature - all the characters are mice! The story is intriguing and exciting, and the artwork is detailed and gorgeous "

FPI covered the announcement of MULP: Sceptre of the Sun on their blog!

Richard Bruton of Forbidden Planet International kindly announces the launch of MULP: Sceptre of the Sun, on the nature of the series he said:

Take the best of anthropomorphic comics and mix them with good old fashioned adventuring, a sense of exploration, of intrigue, of adventure, and you get somewhere near the new series from Matt Gibbs and Sara Dunkerton."

As well as all this going on on the website we have been active on twitter, sharing news and updates with @MULPcomic. Matt and I cannot thank everyone who has replied, re-tweeted and shared our links enough! Thank you all for the warmth, support and lovely words!

Now, if all of this has perked your interest then you can read up more about the comic over on the website. Issue #1 will be available from May 7th, you can pre-order your copy from the shops listed on our website HERE!
Or alternatively you can visit Matt and I at Bristol Comic Expo on the 10th-11th May, where we'll be selling and signing copies of issue #1 and I will also be sketching! If you cannot make it to Bristol though you might be able to catch us at one of the other conventions we'll be attending this year. You can find a list of conventions and events we'll be attending HERE!

Huge thanks to everyone who has supported us so far! There is plenty more to see before to release of Issue #1, so please stay tuned!

Hey Presto - Billie Bunkum's Show Time!

Hey Everyone!

It's been a while since my last post, but I haven't been idle! There is been LOTS going on in the comics field and I'll be able to share some stuff with you within the next few weeks!

For now though, here's a look at a commission I'd completed recently for Hey Presto Ltd, as a conceptual piece for a proposed new kids TV show called Billie Bunkum's Show Time!

Now I don't want to give too much away about this project but I feel it's got some exciting potential, and should be something to look out for if you like Sci-fi or Victorian theatre!

I like to show my workings here on this 'ol blog, so here're the rough thumbnails, pencils and colour stage of how this illustration was created!
